Inspiration to Follow Your Dreams

I love this video it inspired me to dig deep and be better. There are not many career colleges out their that care about you like Asher College does. They are all about the student and each student has their own experiences.  We often hear knowledge is power but we rarely see something so inspiring showing us how to unleash the full potential and reminding us when we were most create and inspired as children. Thank You Asher College

Through These Doors...

I’ve always liked doorways. There’s something about the idea that a door represents the transition from one place to another, from one state of being to another. I bring this up because I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the words that are painted above the doorway into the classroom at the San Jose Campus of Asher College.

“Through these doors you become employable.”

That certainly was the case for me. At this time last year, I was a student of Asher College, with high hopes for a new career in IT, but no real prospects.

Fast forward a year. Instead of a Asher College Student, I’m now an Asher College instructor. But its more than just the new job. It’s the changes. In a previous life, a few years ago, I was a happy trade show manager. But walking through the doors of Asher College (as it was then known) brought me to a different life and a different career.

I used to work surrounded by thousands of strangers on a trade show floor, none of whom I really wanted to meet. Now I look forward to reaching the campus every day. Every day, a student or co-worker says or does something that leaves me amazed, bemused, entertained, puzzled or a combination of all four. Life is interesting and fun again.

I get to work with people who make me laugh. I get to work with people who make me cry. I get to work with people who constantly amaze me with their brilliance, their charm, and their grace. Best of all, I get to work with people I care about. I get to work with people who are trying to better their lives and I get to play a major part in that.

Is it any wonder that my job satisfaction is through the roof? And to think, all I had to do was to walk through a pair of doors.

Where is Information Technology used today

Where is Information Technology used today?

Information Technology is the basis for everything in today's world. You could be driving to fast on the freeway and get pulled over and issued a speeding ticket, the technology used to find your rate of speed was through information technology. The radar gun has detailed information technology calculations that reveal to the officer the rate of speed you are traveling.

Every day we always chose to start our day off with a cup of coffee, hot chocolate or tea. The leading service provider of these services is Starbucks. Every day, millions of people get a Starbucks to get their day started. They pay with debit cards that utilize information technology to process and store the transaction electronically so that they can have verification that they were actually the customer that purchased that cup of coffee and that exact location of the said transaction.

We use information technology today in every business weather we are answering phones filing documents typing emails, scanning files, sending faxes all of these are forms of information technology.  The Las Vegas Strip is one of the biggest displays of how information technology is used in today's world. Each casino located on Las Vegas Boulevard has a LCD displayed in front of the casino that shows what events are taking place inside that hotel and casino as well as what is coming soon. These LCD used databases and networks to display these adds on the Las vegas strip. The lighting and attractions like the Bellagio are all run by computer and people who went through a form of advanced computer training school or college are the ones who were hired to do these jobs.

When we use bill pay from Bank of America or Wells Fargo or Chase Bank we are utilizing information technology to pay our bills online electronically. IT & Computers is in practically everything that we do today. Almost 80% of all pictures taken today are with Smart phones that companies like Apple & Microsoft have focused  large amounts of resources to focus their efforts to develop and improve this area of information technology and how we use it.

Almost everything we touch and use being some sort of information technology it's no wonder Information Technology is the fastest growing industry in the world.  Many jobs have been replaced by databases and computers so going to career training school for information technology is the best way to assure yourself that you will always have places you can work and have a career that will always be around.

Windows phone, Good or Bad?

Everywhere i go, only few can actually recognize my phone considering it is quite an underdog to specific audiences. With other great technology out there, where does the Windows phone sit?

For example, I happen to have a Nokia Lumia 900, which yes, it will survive a nuclear holocaust with how sturdy they made it, but the inside is much better than the outside. With a 1.4Ghz Qualcom Scorpion processor (which is very similar to the ARM Cortex-A8) you can be sure it has plenty of power to run the ever so wonderful Windows Mobile 7.5 code name Mango. The Lumia 900 also features an 8MP rear camera with a 1MP front facing camera as well as an Adreno 205 gpu, with 512 RAM, 512 ROM and 16gb of internal flash memory.

I am currently attending Asher College in one of the information technology program

I love my laptop, but maybe i should get a netbook..

Laptops vs Netbooks

Why go for a netbook over a laptop or vice versa?
We all know how awesome a new laptop can be, but what about that netbook for a few hundred dollars less! Its small, lightweight, portable, and can still run all my basic programs, e.i. iTunes, Firefox, Aim, Skype etc. The netbook is great, built with ultra portable technology such as the Intel iU or Atom processors and even AMD mobile APU processors which have built in graphics to give that super small system the boost it needs.
However, why not spend the few hundred more for that super packed, ultra awesome laptop you've had your sites set on for the last few months! Its got a processor that can turbo clock, mobile quad core processing and even large amounts of ram or hdd expandability! There are so many programs that could run so well on this brand new laptop that a little netbook just couldnt handle.
Speaking with a few people to get their opinions on why someone would choose one over the other, I've found theres alot to choosing one or the other.  Are you lookig for some portability or do you prefer to be ultra poartable? On that note, how much processing power does one need while on the go? Lastly, how much expandability do need? Let's answer each of these side by side.
Are you looking for some portability or do you prefer to be ultra poartable? Laptops were designed to be small and light so anyone could use it anywhere, but with all this new hardware and technology laptops are becoming bigger and better. The netbook takes from the original concept of a laptop and keeps it in line. Its small 9 - 12 inches is most likely the norm for netbooks. Laptops can range anywhere from 13 - 18 inches in size, some even bigger than that! Smaller is better when you're constantly on the move. Weight factors in as well, just because it iss a 14 inch laptop doesnt mean it is going to be light as a feather. Netbooks are small in form which provide less weight when carrying one around, let's say 2 to 4 lbs. With a big screen comes a big responsability of not dropping that 5 - 9+ lbs laptop! Though, if you dont mind lugging around a 6lbs laptop with all your student books, or business paperwork, this wont be a problem for you.
How much processing power does one need while on the go? Here is where the laptop reigns over the netbook, CPU POWER! Yes we all know laptops are the He-Man, if you will, of the portable PC community. Does that make the netbook the Adam of this mobile community? Of course, well, more like the Atom, Intel's Atom to be specific. Possibly even the iU series if you want to be fancy. Netbooks have come in under the market with smaller and less watt heavy mobile CPU's. These processors were desined to be able to do the day to day computing you need without having an excess of cores or ghz. This makes it a great place marker for that person who is constantly traveling with a large load and still needs to tag a pc along for checking emails.
How much expandability do need? Seriously, how many peripherals does one use? That external hard drive, maybe a thumb drive, why not a spare monitor or even an SD card; all great add-ons, and that only takes up 2 usb ports, a vga port, and an SD card slot. This is perfect, especially for a netbook, which tends to have limited expandability. What use would I need for another one or two usb ports, an esata port, ieee 1394, or even an express card slot? Most higher end laptops come with these features, but rarely are they all used at once.
To round this all up, we now know that netbooks are limited in what they can do based on hardware. Laptops are also hindered by their size and hardware, though they still produce more overall functionality and power than a netbook.
So, your next purchase, will it be power or portability?

Apple, Windows, BlackBerry, or Android?

Who's been out looking for a new phone lately, or possibly a brand new tablet pc? With all the options available which do you choose?

Apple is the leader in name brand with products like the iPhone, iPad, and even the iPod Touch.  All of which come with a fully packed iOS featuring tons of apps and a very user friendly interface.

Windows, the newbie of the mobile market! Well not quite, seeing as they use to rule the PDA market back in the day. For which Blackberry slowly took hold. Now with the windows revamp, showing off their mobile OS's such as Windows 7 mobile and Windows 8 mobile. Windows gives you plenty of phones and tablets to choose from, but how is their new and improved mobile OS?

This Leads us to the BlackBerry, which has put out quite alot of great business based phones. Which we all understand is great for business, but does the BB keep pace with Apple, Windows or even Android!

Lastly, my personal choice Android. The ever changing, always upgrading, and widely versitile little green Android! There are so many options and OS's out for the android which one do you go with, what do you use it or?

What is really being asked is which would you choose, or which would you prefer; and why?
